UAES CENTRE FOR CAREER SERVICES AND TRAINING HOLDS 1-DAY WORKSHOP
On 31st October 2024, at the Senate chambers , senior staff of the university were treated to a workshop on “Administrative Procedures and Code of Conduct for Office Holders in the University”. The training is in continuation of the universities vision to train its staff on best practices and to improve their skill and performance on the job.
The Ag. Coordinator of the Centre for Career Services and Training and Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration of the University Dr. Emmanuel Uzodinma in his welcome remarks emphasized on the importance of the training to make sure all senior staff and office holders are well equipped for the academic year which would also see the university graduate its first set of students. He entreated staff to pay keen attention so as to gain the intended value from the workshop. The Ag. Vice Chancellor in declaring the workshop open harped on the mistakes that had been made in the past by our rather inexperienced staff which can be linked to naivety or lack of knowledge of administrative procedures and hierarchy .
The facilitator , Prof. Cornelius Nkwam Uwoma , an emeritus Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics of Imo State University and many times HOD and Dean of the Department of Psychology and and Faculty of Social Sciences respectively delivered a masterclass performance. He gradually decimated and thought every angle of administrative procedure , from hierarchy to the rules and ethics down to the intrigues and purpose of working in the university space. He paid keen attention to dissuade those who had come into the system to make money only as he insisted that the university system is a rewarding one more for those who have a passion to impact knowledge . He advices that monies be spent on it’s approved purpose and not for personal largesse.
The registrar Prince Edward Njemanze gave the vote of thanks and certificates of participation were presented. Also present at the training were the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Dr. Obinna Adumaya , the University Bursar Mr. Robert Anikputa, Librarian Prof. Chidi Nwosu , Director Academic planning Prof. Vivian Osueke and a host of other senior staff.
