UAES SCORES HIGH AS THE NEW UNIVERSITY SECURES Over 85% NUC ACCREDITATION
The University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences has scored high in the just concluded NUC accreditation program across institutions. The University faced their first ever accreditation exercise earlier in the year . The University presented 17 programs to the Nigerian Universities Commission from which 14 attained full accreditation whilst the three other programs achieved interim accreditation status.
The University played host to NUC accreditation teams in November through December 2023 within which period the university presented seventeen (17) programs cutting across three faculties . The results of the NUC accreditation exercise was contained in a memo addressed to the Ag. Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Christopher Eze with reference number NUC/ES/412/VOL..14/361 and dated 6th June, 2024 and duly signed by the Director of Accreditation. The letter reveals that the University has attained full accreditation in the following programs ;
1. Accounting
2. Business Administration
3. Cooperative and Rural Development
4. Marketing
5. Taxation
6. Computer Science
7. Estate Management and Evaluation
8. Estate Management and Toxicology
9. Biology
10. Biochemistry
11. Biotechnology
12. Microbiology
13. Peace Studies and conflict Resolution
14. Psychology
The University also secured Interim Accreditation for four programs;
1. Entrepreneurship
2. Information Technology and
3. Criminology and Security Studies .
The letter clarified the implications of Full and Interim accreditations. Accredited programs are to run for five years before facing another accreditations whilst departments with interim accreditations are permitted to function fully for the period of two years after which the programmes would face a another accreditations. Non- accredited programs are barred from admitting students and any certificate given to them will not be recognized . It is however good to note that none of the Programmes in the university failed accreditation.
At receipt of the report, the visibly elated Ag. Vice -Chancellor Prof. Christopher Chiedozie Eze , Thanked His Excellency The Governor of Imo State Sen. Hope Odidika Uzodinma for the vision of the University and the attendant unwavering love and support he has shown to the vision of the institution. He further commended his Management team for their painstaking efforts to see that such a baby university achieved such impressive result at its maiden accreditation. He also commended the efforts of the Director of Academic Planning Prof. Vivian Iwueke, Deans of Faculties, heads of departments and units , all academics and Non - Teaching staff for their dedication to service which has culminated in the result. He urged every staff to continue in a practice of best standards and to see that their work ethics are not relaxed as the school aims to be the best in only a short while.
Prof. Christopher Chiedozie Eze, further promised to continue in a transparent and all inclusive mode of leadership and to put in all efforts to see that the programs preparing for accreditation within the year attain full accreditation whilst seeing to the possibility of increasing the number of academic programmes on offer as the University under his leadership is ready to grow in leaps and bounds.
