VICE-CHANCELLOR PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR IMO TRADITIONAL INSTITUTION

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Umuagwo, Imo State, Prof. Christopher Chiedozie Eze, has expressed support for the traditional institution in the state. He also expressed readiness to work with traditional rulers in the state in areas of mutual interest.

The Vice-Chancellor made these remarks when a team from the Imo State Council of Traditional Institution and Community Policing paid him a familiarization visit on Wednesday 7th February, 2024.

The VC also appealed to the visiting traditional rulers to advertise the University to their subjects. In his words, “Our University has a flexible admission policy. We do not engage in admission racketeering. Our cut-off is 140 and it is within reach. We run 29 programmes spread across five Faculties of Agriculture, Business, Engineering, Environment and Science and Computing. Our tuition is affordable and our environment is serene for bountiful academic harvest. We thank His Excellency, Dist. Senator Hope Uzodimma for the rare vision of establishing this unique University.”

In his speech at the occasion, the leader of the team and Eze of Eziobodo Community, HRH Eze Lucky Okoro (PhD), stated that they were at the University at the behest of Eze Imo and Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers and Community Policing, HRH Eze Dr. Emmanuel Okeke, to familiarize with the Vice-Chancellor and Management of the Institution and give them their blessings.

He congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on the achievements recorded in the University, adding that Ndi-Eze Imo were willing to partner the Institution on areas that would be mutually beneficial to both parties.

Other traditional rulers on the entourage included HRH Eze D. 0. Izim, HRH Eze M. C. Nwokoma and HRH Eze Eric Uchegbu, while the traditional ruler of Umuagwo was represented by Nze S. A. Ogbuji. The team was accompanied by some officials of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers Secretariat.
